Uncontrolled Methods

Traditional plug-and-perf stimulation relies on limited entry perforations to control fracture placement at high rates. Once the well is converted to an injector, the high number of perforations makes it challenging to manage flow and ensure uniform injection across the wellbore. Injection fluid will follow the path of least resistance which can cause short-circuiting and reduce heat extraction efficiency.

Controlled Method

Pinpoint injection enables stage-specific activation in any sequence with the option to open or close stages for the life-of-well. After the stimulation, when converting to an injector, the flow at each stage can be regulated to optimize long-term energy extraction for years to come.
